Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants introduces The Carlyle-Dupont Circle, in Washington D.C.

The Carlyle – Dupont Circle, currently owned by Foxhall Partners and Iron Point Partners, is undergoing extensive renovation to fit the Kimpton style and standards of boutique service.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has recently been awarded the management contract for the Washington, D.C. hotel, The Carlyle – Dupont Circle, which will soon be converted to a Kimpton-branded property and will open its doors in May 2015 in the city’s Glover Park neighbourhood.

The Carlyle – Dupont Circle, currently owned by Foxhall Partners and Iron Point Partners, is undergoing extensive renovation to fit the Kimpton style and standards of boutique service. Located just two and a half blocks northeast of Dupont Circle in the heart of a thriving restaurant and nightlife scene, The Carlyle – Dupont Circle, a Kimpton Hotel, is within walking distance of a number of art galleries, museums and attractions including The Phillips Collection and the National Gallery of Art. The Carlyle is undergoing an extensive renovation of the public spaces, restaurant and guestrooms that will expand the hotel from 170 to 198 rooms, including 56 that offer full service, state-of-the-art kitchenettes, ideal for extended stay travellers and families.

World renowned artist Michele Oka Doner agreed to collaborate on an exclusive basis with Foxhall’s hospitality group to lead the design and concept creation of The Carlyle – Dupont Circle as her first hotel project in the United States. The interior design features inspired modern artwork and handcrafted chandeliers customised to highlight The Carlyle’s history. The hotel will also debut a membership quality fitness centre, Washington’s Urban Athletic Club founded by Graham King, and 3,000 square feet of flexible meeting space when it reopens in May 2015 as a Kimpton hotel.

In addition, The Carlyle will also house a restaurant by renowned Chef Michael Schlow, who was named “Best Chef in the Northeast” and operates the popular TICO restaurant on D.C.’s 14th Street corridor. The new restaurant slated to open this summer will be called The Riggsby with a focus on American dishes pulling in European influences, giving guests the option of in-room dining.

“Washington has been a thriving market for Kimpton over the years, and it’s great to be able to add this new property to our portfolio to keep up with the incredible demand we continue to see here,” said Barry Pollard, senior vice president of hotel operations. “Once renovations are complete and all the signature Kimpton amenities and programmes are in place, The Carlyle – Dupont Circle will provide even more diversity to our offerings in the capital.”
