LONDON – HKS Hospitality Group, the global architectural practice recognised around the world for its creative designs and collaborative approach, continues its rapid growth in London with the new appointments of Mark Kowalski and Jacqueline King.

Appointed Vice President of HKS’ Hospitality Group, Mark brings a wealth of international expertise gained from working on complex, large-scale luxury projects. From architectural design direction and consultant coordination to high-profile client and project management, his widespread experience has been acquired on projects ranging from five-and-six-star hotels and resorts to lavish casinos and refined residences.

Most recently Associate Director, Senior Design Manager at Turner & Townsend, Mark worked on the much-anticipated Peninsula Hotel and One Grosvenor Place at Hyde Park Corner, London – a luxury new-build joint venture between Grosvenor UK and Hongkong & Shanghai Hotels, Ltd. Prior to this, he moved from his native Australia to London, joining HOK and, subsequently, WATG and Wimberly Interiors where during 13 years he rose to become Senior Associate, Project Design Manager. Working on projects around the globe based from company offices in London, Dubai, California, Orlando and Hong Kong, Mark has been involved in notable international projects such as the Lisboa Palace in Macau, a mega casino hotel resort and theme park due for completion in 2017 with Michelin-starred restaurants and nine hotels including Palazzo Versace and Karl Lagerfeld’s first boutique hotel. Other prestigious developments include a five-star, 1200-room residential and hospitality resort on the Black Sea for the official delegation of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi; a six-star One & Only resort and wine museum in the village Castellina in Chianti, Tuscany; and the Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman, the country’s premier venue for musical arts and culture designed to reflect contemporary Omani architecture. At HKS, Mark is currently involved in a five-star hotel and residential project in Montenegro for Qatari Diar and the re-masterplanning of the Punta Scala Resort in Croatia for Morgan Stanley.

Jacqui King, Associate, is a creative architect whose strength lies in conceiving unique and innovative designs for luxury hotels, resorts and residences. Originally hailing from South Africa, she completed her Part III studies in the UK and worked at HOK before joining WATG and Wimberly Interiors. For more than a dozen years, Jacqui garnered extensive experience developing designs from concept phase through to their detailed implementation for urban and resort destinations within Africa, Asia, the South Pacific, Europe and the Middle East. Jacqui was promoted to Associate in recognition of her inspired talents on projects such as the Mandarin Oriental in Bodrum, Turkey; the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita; and the Plantation Hotel and Apartments, an urban development in the heart of Dubai. Since joining HKS, Jacqui has been working on the design for a hotel and residences at Plavi Horizonti, a new luxury destination in Montenegro.

Luciano Mazza, Director of Hospitality, Architecture is enthusiastic about welcoming Mark and Jacqui. “It’s an exciting time for HKS Hospitality Group, as we are winning many interesting projects that allow us to grow in new ways as architects. With the addition of Mark and Jacqui, our team’s diverse international experience has been strengthened, along with our creative agility in developing exceptional design solutions that reflect cultural nuances and anticipate the preferences of modern luxury hotel guests.”
