Marketing in a Box launches as a subscription service for small hotels

NEW YORK, NY – It’s no secret that hotel marketing teams have been pared down in 2020 as a result of the pandemic. As a consultant working with hotels to elevate their marketing and storytelling, ABD Creative founder Amy Draheim took immediate action. Draheim created Marketing In A Box, a first-of-its-kind subscription-based model for small hotels to help them create and maintain smart and impactful marketing campaigns while they navigate the pandemic and subsequent travel industry recovery.

Marketing In A Box functions like an online course, and fills the role of an onsite marketer or agency at a fraction of the cost, by training independent hoteliers to create their own successful marketing campaigns. Each month, hotels unlock a box to better market themselves across web, email, and social media through a timely workbook, access to a custom dashboard, and a one-hour consulting call with Draheim.

“This spring, I tried to binge watch Tiger King, I tried to bake bread, but I couldn’t get my mind off hotels. Many had hit pause on marketing. Some were trying to do it themselves. I started to rethink the consultant/client relationship,” said Draheim.

In April, Amy launched the How To Share podcast to inspire hoteliers and marketers to push through the pandemic and continue to communicate with their guests. Industry leaders that have guested on Amy’s podcast include Damon Lawrence, founder of Homage Hospitality (the first hotel group dedicated to Black travelers) and Alyssa Ramos, the full-time travel blogger behind @mylifesatravelmovie.

“The interviews inspired listeners and the teaching episodes took off. Particularly, how to market your hotel in crisis,” said Draheim. “I went back to my notes. What would consulting look like for a small hotel who just needed a guide? Marketing In A Box was born. This isn’t marketing 101. It’s hotel marketing for people who know hotels, understand marketing platforms, and need help navigating the nuances of web, email, and social media to get more out of the time they’re putting in,” she added.

In its beta test, Marketing In A Box clients saw email open rates top 59%, traffic from social media to their websites increase 400%. One client earned an 80% increase in revenue from email marketing YOY amidst shelter in place orders.

“Imagine a coach, cheerleader, and old friend all wrapped into one. Then imagine that combo working tirelessly to make your business a success. We’ve never had such an uplifting & professional marketing experience” says Colleen Spring, Owner, Table Rock Jungle Lodge.
