Marriott Rewards Programme introduces no blackout dates

From Cancun to Paris, Marriott Rewards, the award-winning guest loyalty program, says goodbye to blackout dates beginning January 15, 2009.  Marriott Rewards members will be able to redeem points for free nights at 2,900 hotels every day of the year.

“In today’s world of travel rules and regulations, people are looking for ways to take a trip on their own terms,” said Ed French, senior vice president, Marriott Rewards. “Especially in today’s economic environment, our program is all about making life on the road more productive and more rewarding – no blackout dates is another major step in that direction.”

Additional new enhancements to Marriott Rewards include:

  • For every four-night stay redeemed, members will receive a fifth redemption night free for that stay.
  • Platinum Elite members’ bonuses will increase from 30 to 50 percent of the total points earned during their stay.

With the elimination of blackout dates, Marriott Rewards members will have greater access to redemption nights at the company’s brands including Marriott Hotels & Resorts, JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, TownePlace Suites by Marriott and SpringHill Suites by Marriott.

Marriott Rewards is celebrating its 25th anniversary as the longest running frequent stay program in the industry, and is frequently recognized for being the best value with thousands of award options to choose from.  Testament to its popularity, nearly 30 million travelers have joined Marriott Rewards, making it among the world’s largest programs.

Marriott Rewards points can be redeemed for hotel stays, frequent flyer miles with 32 airline partners, cruises, car rentals, brand-name merchandise, luggage delivery service and more. Marriott Rewards won the 2008 Freddie Award for “Best Hotel Rewards Program” and has been named best hotel rewards program by the readers of Business Traveler, Global Traveler, Travel Savvy, Executive Travel and BusinessWeek magazines.
