Record first-quarter trading figures show 317% growth.
Outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com continues its rapid international expansion with the launch of three new destinations, with sites now live and available to book in Argentina, Cyprus and the Czech Republic.
The website, specialising in camping, caravanning and glamping, now features over 1,750 bookable sites in 21 countries across the globe.
The announcement comes as Pitchup.com revals its lastest trading figures, showing record first-quarter growth of 317% year on year for destinations outside the UK. Sales from customers abroad are also growing strongly: bookings from Pitchup.com’s biggest source of customers after the UK – France – are also up 300% on last year.
In addition smartphone bookings, which are up 131% year on year, and have now reached 30% of all bookings.
Dan Yates, Founder of Pitchup.com, said: “We’re delighted to continue our growth into new markets, in line with demand from our users. People want to immerse themselves in the landscape and way of life of the countries they visit in order to have an authentic experience. Camping and outdoor holidays offer just that, without the expensive price tag of a hotel stay.”
He continued: “As we continue to extend our range of destinations across the globe, our booking window expands. Where we’d traditionally see bookings peak in spring, summer and early autumn, we’re now seeing people booking to visit overseas destinations during the winter months or booking ahead for their summer holiday abroad. Bookings for France are up 268%, including Brittany 195% and Nord-Pas-de-Calais 330% – and Spain up a colossal 878%.”
He concluded: “Similarly, overseas visitors to the UK tend to book their holidays much further in advance and are less influenced by the weather, and so we have noticed an increase of inbound bookings for Summer 2016 over the last few months, with the more expensive options, such as static caravans and holidays homes, in high demand.”

Argentina, Camping Los Coihues: Situated in a rural setting on the banks of the River Gutierrez, within easy reach of Bariloche city centre, Camping Los Coihues is a quiet campsite, ideal for families and those who enjoy outdoor pursuits. The river is a popular spot for swimming and fishing with kayaking, cycling, hiking, horse riding and sailing available in the nearby area. Onsite facilities include barbecues, football and volleyball courts and toilet and shower blocks with hot water 24 hours a day. A range of spacious pitches are available in the camping field as well as basic microlodges for those wishing to travel light.
