Paradigm Design Group combines local flavor and leisure at the Redesigned Portland Marriot Downtown

Combining local charm with Oregonian inspired details, the reimagined Portland Marriot features the contemporary aesthetics of the city’s surroundings.

LOS ANGELES – The Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront has unveiled the newly renovated 44,000 square feet of meeting space, ballrooms and M Club Lounge. Rounding out the final two installations of the hotel-wide refresh, the renovation encompassed 507 guestroom and suites, pre-function, ballrooms, meeting spaces, M Club, and fitness center. The esteemed hospitality design firm, Paradigm Design Group, completed all areas of the renovation, which began in December 2013 and was finalized by January 2016.

Combining local charm with Oregonian inspired details, the reimagined Portland Marriot features the contemporary aesthetics of the city’s surroundings. The new color palette of vibrant greens, navy blues and soft grays echoes the lush surrounding environment of the Willamette River, Mount Hood and industrial ties. The color scheme adapts to each space according to their function; moody blues breathe elegance into the meeting spaces, pops of bright green infuse a relaxed cool in the M Club, and soft grays create soothing serenity in the guestrooms and suites.

Staying true to the city’s favorite form of navigation, PDG developed customized artwork to capture Portland’s love for biking. The guestrooms feature a stunning focal wall/backdrop where the image of a bike wheel is artfully portrayed in the element of a tree slice. Additional examples include patterned carpet with tire track prints, and sculptural tire wheel artwork in the M Club Lounge. Special hanging racks for bikes were also incorporated in selected specialty guestrooms.

President of Paradigm Design Group, Lisa Haude shares her thoughts on the transformation, “Since Portland has such a energetic, young, hip vibe we wanted to capture the spirit of the city in the new design. Every detail was thoughtfully pulled together. We absolutely love the end result and feel like the property truly expresses the people of Portland.”
