Re-introducing Waterfront Hotel in Jack London Square

Inspired by its marina location, Waterfront Hotel’s refreshed $2 million facelift owes its modernized finish to Oakland-based design firm, Studio Hatch.

Oakland, California was recently named one of National Geographic’s “Must-See Places in 2019,” and Waterfront Hotel offers a pet-friendly, dynamic oasis, centrally located within this booming city featuring a lively restaurant scene, local craft beer and wine offerings, and a diverse culture & arts community. I would love for you to keep the property in mind for any upcoming stories surrounding new renovations and exciting must-visit getaway destinations.

When staying at the Waterfront Hotel, guests are encouraged to discover and experience Oakland. Patrons are offered experiential amenities such as the Urban Wine Trail Package – where guests are welcomed with a bottle of local Oakland wine to be enjoyed before, after (or during!) the self-led wine tour through Jack London Square’s favorite urban wineries housed in renovated warehouse spaces. Via Jack London Square, travelers have their pick of exciting experiences from catching a live concert at The Fox Theater, to conquering an early-morning kayak trip through the Oakland Estuary, indulging in the California-inspired Italian menu at Lungomare Restaurant within the Waterfront Hotel, or finding your favorite brew along the Oakland Ale Trail.

Inspired by its marina location, Waterfront Hotel’s refreshed $2 million facelift owes its modernized finish to Oakland-based design firm, Studio Hatch. The property’s interior welcomes subtle nautical influences and has transitioned to a lighter, brighter color palette including pale blues, light wood, rust, and coral tones. In particular, guests are welcomed by a nautically-inspired chandelier featuring white rope supports and glass light fixtures, beneath a high ceiling with wood paneling reminiscent of a sailboat, and a custom-printed wallcovering in the lobby reminiscent of beads of water.

Abstract artwork pays homage to Waterfront Hotel’s location and historical landmarks of Oakland and Jack London Square, adorning the walls of guest room corridors, reception area, and collective spaces. Specifically, the collective spaces offer a living-room inspired environment with a cozy, enlarged brass fireplace, and multiple seating options for socializing and relaxing.
