Red Lion expands into Tucson, Arizona

The Quality Inn & Suites, 7411 N. Oracle Road, is expected to convert to the Red Lion Inn & Suites brand in May.

SPOKANE, WASH. – Red Lion Hotels Corporation announced the company has signed a franchise agreement on a property in Tucson, Arizona.

“This property is located near the western edge of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson,” said Ron Burgett, Executive Vice President of Lodging and Brand Development for Red Lion. “It is perfect for our guests visiting the area for business, sports and leisure travel.”

The Quality Inn & Suites, 7411 N. Oracle Road, is expected to convert to the Red Lion Inn & Suites brand in May. The hotel is near Tohono Chul Park, and provides easy access to The University of Arizona, Sabino Canyon, Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios and Mission San Xavier del Bac. The hotel has 155 rooms, 91 of which are suites, and 1,600 square feet of meeting space. Guests enjoy the heated outdoor pool and hot tub, the courtyard putting green and a free hot breakfast.

“The signing of this agreement is a great kick-off to 2014, following a banner year in 2013,” said Interim President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Evans. “We added 11 new locations in 2013, bringing our total to 30 franchised hotels, launched a new brand (the Leo Hotel Collection) and expanded into Arizona. I am pleased with all our Development team has accomplished.”

In January 2013, Red Lion announced the Leo Hotel Collection at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS). In February, the 3,000-room LVH – Las Vegas Hotel & Casino became the inaugural property in that collection, as well as the second property in Nevada within the company’s network. Red Lion then expanded into Arizona with the addition of the Red Lion Inn & Suites Phoenix/Tempe – ASU.
