InterContinental Hotels Group announced the opening of its newest 200-room Crowne Plaza resort in Lake Placid, N.Y. The IHG portfolio in New York is represented by six of its brands including the upper upscale, upscale, full service, limited service, upscale extended stay and mid-scale extended stay segments with 81 hotels and more than 15,000 rooms.
This is the 9th hotel to be added to the Crowne Plaza portfolio in North America this year, said Kevin Kowalski, vice president, brand management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts. Renovations to the four-story property, which was formerly the Holiday Inn Lake Placid, include: Wrought iron light fixtures in the guest lobby as well as a granite stone wood burning fireplace. The lobby is exquisitely decorated with Adirondack style tables, chairs, sofas, love seats and armoires. The business center is updated with hi-tech equipment and a complete transformation of the resort`s landscaping is designed with new paving, stone walkways and fresh shrubs and flowers.
Located in the center of Olympic Village, the resort boasts 45 holes of championship golf spanning three golf courses, a putting green, eight lighted tennis courts, an indoor pool, fitness center and four dining facilities: Arturo`s serves Italian American cuisine featuring a Pasta Saute Bar; Veranda serves French American cuisine in a restored Adirondack Manor overlooking Lake Placid; the Boat House serves eclectic waterfront dining and the Golf Club, in an outdoor patio setting, serves American cuisine and overlooks sweeping views of the High Peaks` sierra. New to the resort, the 2,800 sq.-ft. Adirondack Great Room & Lobby Bar is a rustic-style pub with a granite wood-burning fireplace and has spectacular views of Mirror Lake and Whiteface Mountain. Light fare and cocktails are available. The Crowne Plaza Lake Placid Resort also offers complimentary USA Today newspaper, a 24-hour reception desk, complimentary parking and in-room video check out.
