Starwood<.> Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. celebrates the return of the Westin brand to China with the Grand Opening of The Westin Shanghai.

The 26-story Westin Shanghai will be the first international hotel to open in Shanghai’s Bund district. Both the hotel and The Westin Residences are ideally located within the recently opened Bund Center, one of Shanghai’s largest, most modern and comprehensively integrated commercial and residential developments.

The Grand Opening ceremony also highlights the official completion of the Bund Center, which occupies over 215,278 square feet of space. Developed by Shanghai Golden Bund Real Estate Co. Ltd., the Bund Center’s prime location allows easy access to the commercial districts and shopping havens of Puxi and the flourishing financial enclave of Pudong.

The Bund Center consists of a 50-story office tower, The Westin Shanghai and The Westin Residences. The majestic Bund Center, the first such integrated development in the Bund district, provides a graceful juxtaposition to the surrounding 1920s and 1930s European architectural grandeur adjacent to an elegant waterfront area.

We are proud to officially welcome The Westin Shanghai to the Starwood family, said Miguel Ko, President Asia Pacific, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. We are extremely delighted with the world-class quality and design, and we are confident The Westin Shanghai will be one of the top hotels not only in our group but in the world. Ko added, we are also proud to be partners with Shanghai Golden Bund Real Estate Co. Ltd., and to be part of the historic Bund Center development. This will be Shanghai’s landmark of the future.

Designed by Hirsch Bedner Associates, the hotel features an impeccable choice of first-rate accommodations, dining, conference, entertainment and fitness facilities, including the world-renowned Banyan Tree Spa, Asia’s award-winning sanctuary for body and mind. The Westin Shanghai has 301 rooms based on suite concepts that feature Westin’s famous Heavenly Bed. Guests staying at The Westin Shanghai will enjoy easy access to the city’s business, shopping, sightseeing and entertainment districts.

Completing the integrated Bund Center complex of hotel, office tower and apartments, is The Westin Residences – the first luxury apartment building to open in the Bund district. The apartments offer a choice of 143 one, two and three-bedroom and penthouse units that embody the same level of luxury and service that is synonymous with Westin Hotels & Resorts.

It is with great pleasure that we open The Westin Shanghai in China, said Stephen Ford, General Manager of The Westin Shanghai and The Westin Residences. Designed along the lines of modern luxury, we have introduced the innovative brand products and services of Westin Hotels & Resorts, such as the Heavenly Bed and Service Express, where `one call does it all’ for all your service requests.
