The “Green City in the Sun” gets a burst of orange with dusitD2 nairobi

dusitD2 nairobi is located at 14 Riverside, an exclusive development in downtown Nairobi, Kenya.

One of Asia’s leading hospitality groups, Dusit International, begins its “Year of Expansion” with the announcement of dusitD2 nairobi, the group’s second property on the African continent. The announcement took the form of a “Hard Hat” event on the 17th January where guests and media were invited to don a hard hat, walk the site, and familiarise themselves with the location of the hotel slated to open in Q3 2013.

dusitD2 nairobi is located at 14 Riverside, an exclusive development in downtown Nairobi, Kenya. Flanked by high end residences, universities, government offices and embassies, dusitD2 nairobi promises to bring a burst of energy to the area with its attractive mix of all day dining outlets, meeting facilities, spa and terrace bar.

The Hard Hat event also saw the signing of the hotel management agreement between Nairobi-based Cape Hotels, Ltd. and Dusit International, who will oversee the hotel’s operations. “We are delighted to collaborate with Dusit International and are certain that by bringing their unparalleled brand of Thai hospitality to Kenya, dusitD2 nairobi will set a new benchmark of service, quality and excellence in the local hospitality industry,”  remarks Snehal Sanghrajka, Director of Cape Hotels, Ltd.

Though this is the company’s second location on the continent, it is its first in sub-Saharan Africa. The company first entered the African market in 2009 with the opening of Dusit Thani Lake View in Cairo, Egypt. This latest venture marks a natural progression from the company’s operations in the Middle East, where the Dusit brand has been firmly established for more than a decade.

“The favourable growth prospects and infrastructure of Kenya’s capital city provide an excellent foothold from which to further develop our brand on the African continent,” says Dusit International Managing Director and CEO, Mr Chanin Donavanik. “In concert with our international expansion plans, we aim to solidify our presence in Africa and explore opportunities in locations such as Masai Mara, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Kampala.”

Recognising the changing tastes of today’s traveller, dusitD2 nairobi offers a refreshing take on ‘destination chic,’combined with the consistency and heritage of an experienced, globally renowned hotel brand.
