The Londoner: A hotel of innovation and firsts for weddings, meetings and events

The world’s first super boutique hotel will be the leading events venue in London thanks to its size, flexibility, capabilities, and location.

London has always been a destination of choice for meetings and events in Europe and The Londoner, set on the south west corner of Leicester Square, is where the U.K. capital comes alive. Opening this summer, the hotel will offer a new stage for business and leisure events and a milestone concept for the MICE industry.

Created by world-renowned interior designers Yabu Pushelberg, this first-of-its-kind multifunctional hotel is suited for any occasion, from private dinners, corporate functions, weddings, and presentations, and encompasses 16 stories, 350 guestrooms and suites, and a tower penthouse with panoramic views. Highlight facilities include two private screening rooms, six concept eateries – including bars, a traditional London tavern, alfresco dining on the ground floor and a contemporary Japanese lounge bar with a rooftop terrace and fire pit, an expansive ballroom, meeting spaces, and wellbeing destination The Retreat.

Jason Kitt, Director of Meetings and Events comments: “Completely unlike any other hotel, The Londoner’s flexible spaces offer luxury with a London edge and a quality-driven experience. Part of Edwardian Hotels London and a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, being a brilliant host is our essence, and we understand the true value of a genuine experience. With this year once again likely to present a forced change in how business events will occur, the hotel sets a benchmark for digital connectivity with resilient data and communications networks embedded throughout, ready to meet the demands of our digitally driven society today. We want to light up each guest experience when we open this year and ensure the best results every time.”

A design marvel, the Ballroom is a luxurious state-of-the-art 6,092 square-foot pillarless venue space, with some of the highest ceilings in the city. With its capacity to host up to 864 guests making it one of the biggest in the capital, the ballroom can be seamlessly transformed for an array of functions.

Steel plays a big role in The Londoner’s architecture and appears in different forms, textures and colors. The Ballroom ceiling holds steel trusses within an open grid feature that carries theatrical lighting and special effect AV equipment. The main speakers are hung off the metal subframe, just above the feature ceiling, marking The Londoner as having the only feature ceiling in the capital capable of carrying such lighting specifications of this kind.

Various solutions of the ballroom have been created for guests to engage and connect with people and businesses on a hybrid level offering spaces which are at the forefront of event technology and innovation. State of the art 4K projections systems, large 5.5 meter electric screens, ceiling hung LED screens, a BOSE Showmax Stage audio system are just a few of the SMART features available, all overseen by The Londoner’s hosts and events team. Suited for any hybrid occasion, its digital and tech capabilities mean that the space can deliver a spectrum of virtual event experiences such as conferences, AGMs, product launches, exhibitions, awards ceremonies, fashion shows, seminars, receptions and dinners.

A truly flexible events offering, The Londoner can also provide options for intimate events formats, amongst its guest rooms and suites, The Green Room and The Gallery and its seven meeting rooms. For smaller events, The Green Room is a beautiful space for receptions and gatherings. With the allure of an exclusive nightclub, the 3,214 square-foot space offers a timeless London party venue for 150 people standing.

Further, The Gallery and its seven rooms are ideal spaces for business meetings. Offering the opportunity to view works from some of today’s most exciting artists through partnerships with local galleries, the rooms are linked to a spacious foyer, with the ability to be customized and configured to suit various needs. Delegates can also simply text EDWARD, Edwardian Hotels London’s AI chatbot, for any support needs – from ordering refreshments and adjusting running orders, to requesting assistance with AV equipment. Built-in assisted machine learning using Natural Language Understanding (NLU) means more than 1,600 requests can be responded to in different languages. The hotel offers a seven-day menu for meetings and events delegates, as part of a significant investment across Edwardian Hotels London’s wider MICE offering.

As the UK continues to adapt regulations in response to changing circumstances, The Londoner is offering a number of different wedding formats for when it opens its doors. From micro weddings to large gatherings, the hotel is equipped to cater to events requiring entertainment from live bands, concert performances amongst others.

The Ballroom is an ideal choice for sequel weddings – a larger-scale second celebration for weddings that have been postponed – and is given a whole new meaning at The Londoner. More intimate wedding formats for two to 50 guests are also available in the seven private dining rooms, while some of the signature suites, all with their own London view, offer the perfect setting for small ceremonies and receptions.

Forward-thinking technology is woven into the design to accommodate every modern-day wedding requirement and event aspiration. Whatever the appetite on the day, the icing on the cake of The Londoner’s wedding program is its culinary leaders. Couples can anticipate nothing less than extraordinary custom-designed cocktails and menus, to specialty wedding cakes – no detail will be left to chance. A true rarity is the two dedicated kitchens equipped to service the Ballroom and serve hot food, unlike most hotels in the city, with bespoke dining menu dishes composed by The Londoner’s Executive Chefs. Licensed for civil weddings and partnership ceremonies, a dedicated in-house events management team manages and considers every detail, from the cuisine to the finer personal touches, ensuring every occasion at The Londoner is truly memorable.

On opening this summer, The Londoner will be a film lover’s paradise, like the cinemas it is flanked by in the West End and complete with two private screening rooms, the hotel provides one of the biggest private venues spaces for hire in the capital.

Powered by the technology of Odeon-Luxe, the private cinemas will allow meetings, conferences and screenings to come to life like never before. State-of-the-art digital and projection system with Dolby Cinema screens, enable archive or specialist screenings for business or press events, offering high-specification video conferencing, the latest technologies for broadcasting, integrated technology with individual electronic voting and microphones and dedicated Audio-Visual support. The two screening rooms –  one with the capacity for 170 people and the other for 75 people – feature Luxe recliner seats for the ultimate in comfort. Both rooms feature wheelchair accessibility and can accommodate two wheelchairs per room.

Ideally situated in the heart of the West End, The Londoner will offer a grand space, moments away from prime transport links, including Leicester Square Station.
