The Resort Group agrees new hotel agreement with Hilton Worldwide

New 201-room hotel to be built on Santiago Island, Cabo Verde.

DERBY, UK – The Resort Group has announced that it has signed a management agreement with Hilton Worldwide to open an upscale Hilton Hotel in Praia, on Santiago Island, Cabo Verde. The newly constructed Hilton Praia, will offer 201 guestrooms and suites across 15 floors, and also feature a business centre and leisure facilities including a fitness and spa with indoor and outdoor swimming pools.  

The hotel is expected to begin welcoming guests by 2018 and Hilton Praia will offer extensive meetings and events facilities with more than 700 square metres of space, made up of a large ballroom and four further meeting rooms – ideal for major corporate events, incentive groups as well as social occasions.

“This project from The Resort Group, in the city of Praia, is of huge importance for the international prestige of our capital city, which will become part of the distinguished group of African and worldwide capital cities that have a Hilton branded hotel” said Jose Maria Neves, President of the Cabo Verde Islands. “The presence of such a high prestige brand will contribute to our international recognition as a diversified and quality destination. Once again The Resort Group has presented us with a high quality investment in the country.”

Hilton Praia will be located approximately six kilometres from Nelson Mandela International Airport (RAI) and six kilometres from Port of Praia one of the principle ports of Cabo Verde. The hotel will be close to the city’s diplomatic quarters, governmental institutions, commercial, finance and residential areas, while the University of Cabo Verde is also located close by.

The Resort Group recently opened its second resort in Cabo Verde, Dunas Beach Resort & Spa situated on Sal Island. Earlier in 2014, the Group announced that over half a million visitors had visited its award winning Tortuga Beach since it opened in 2011. A third resort on Sal, Llana Beach Hotel, is also under construction.  The Resort Group attracts property investors from across Europe offering 5-star commercial properties with a guaranteed rate of return.
