Tourico Holidays establishes new industry standard for hotel connectivity programs

Top hotel chains achieve greater distribution success with enhanced data caching technology from Tourico Holidays.

ORLANDO, FLA. – Tourico Holidays, a global leader in wholesale travel brokerage, announced that it has achieved an industry-best 97% sync rate with top hotel brands – including Hilton, Hyatt, IHG and Choice Hotels – enabling them to extend pricing and availability more accurately to Tourico’s network of more than 800 online retailers around the world.

Recent enhancements to Tourico’s data caching technology have enabled the company to mitigate industry-wide challenges with pricing latency and data accuracy. By cutting the common failure ratio by more than a half, Tourico Holidays now exceeds the 92% connectivity rate that stood as the de facto standard in the travel distribution industry.

“Early results of our enhanced connectivity have definitely been noticeable as we’ve seen a 35% increase in hotel bookings over the last six months,” said Neil Emerson, Senior Vice President of Product Development for Tourico Holidays. “Across the board, all of our top hotel suppliers, from Hilton and Hyatt to IHG and Choice, are seeing increased bookings as a result of the improvements we’ve made to our caching system. While it may seem like we’ve only made an incremental improvement over the industry standard, the results can have a material impact when operating on a scale of hundreds of thousands of transactions.”

By powering hotel listings and bookings with real-time data delivered via XML protocol, travel retailers are not only able to access more accurate pricing data from Tourico Holidays – but also a more diverse, unique and attractive hotel portfolio. Tourico reports that its average transaction size has increased more than 43% over the last year on mounting consumer interest in full-service, upscale hotels.

“Not only are we seeing growing interest in higher-end hotel offerings, but also elite room types and suites in general,” Emerson said.

Tourico Holidays plans to continue expanding its network of connected hotels by introducing more brands to the program over the next several months.
