The landmark hotel will open fall 2015; Will feature an additional ballroom.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Washington, D.C.’s landmark The Watergate Hotel, which will reopen this fall upon the completion of a dramatic $125 million make-over renovation, has been accepted into Associated Luxury Hotels International (ALHI). The ALHI Global Sales Organization now represents the new hotel to meeting professionals, association executives, business executives, and incentive specialists interested in conducting meetings, conventions and/or incentive programs at the hotel. The announcement was made by ALHI President Jim Schultenover.

Located along the banks of the picturesque Potomac River, The Watergate Hotel is being transformed into a sophisticated and luxurious urban resort. Upon the completion of the $125 million renovation, the hotel will offer 337 elegant guest rooms and suites, which will feature lavish finishes, sleek furniture, and floor-to-ceiling marble bathrooms, with 95% of the rooms and suites providing views of the scenic Potomac. The hotel also is greatly expanding and enhancing its meeting facilities, as it will now offer 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space, which will include the newly constructed 7,000-square-foot Moretti Grand Ballroom, the opulent new Cecchi Junior Ballroom, and such state-of-the-art technology as wireless sound systems and high-definition video displays. The hotel also will feature a chic new Rooftop Bar, perfect for receptions, which will provide unrivaled 360 degree views. Additional offerings will include a spa and fitness center with an indoor pool, a Whiskey Bar, a signature restaurant with casual and fine dining, and multiple outdoor terraces.

Situated in the 10-acre Watergate complex next to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the hotel features an ideal location less than a 10-minute walk from the Georgetown Waterfront shops and dining, George Washington University, Foggy Bottom Metro Station, The U.S. Department of State, and The National Mall. It is less than a 20-minute walk from the Central Business District of K Street, L Street, and Pennsylvania Avenue; The White House; Dupont Circle; and Embassy Row. The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is just a 10-minute ride away. The new hotel is owned by Euro Capital Properties.

In addition to its Membership within ALHI’s worldwide portfolio, The Watergate Hotel becomes the newest option in ALHI’s “City Solutions” specialty segment, which now offers 57 outstanding options in the most distinctive metropolitan areas around the world.

The Watergate Hotel also becomes the sixth exceptional ALHI Member hotel in the Greater Washington, D.C. area, joining the sophisticated 356-room Loews Madison Hotel just four blocks from the White House; the elegant 400-room Mandarin Oriental, Washington, D.C., offering 38,000 square feet of meeting space; the 834-room, recently renovated Omni Shoreham Hotel, located in a premier residential neighborhood; The Washington Court Hotel, offering 18,000 square feet of meeting space just steps from the U.S. Capitol; and the renowned 335-room Willard InterContinental, often called the “Crown Jewel of Pennsylvania Avenue.”

“The Watergate Hotel is nearing completion of an impressive $125 million renovation and enhancement that will make it better than ever,” said Schultenover. “It is being transformed into one of the finest hotels in Washington, D.C., with beautiful new guest rooms, outstanding new meeting space, and a prime and desired location, making it a terrific choice for meetings and events of all types.”
