Iberia becomes latest airline to join Budapest Airport

Providing Hungarian passengers with additional connections from the Spanish capital city airport, Iberia will most notably boost Budapest Airport’s link to Latin America.

In a historic return, Spain’s national carrier, Iberia –a leading International Airlines Group airline – launched a seasonal Madrid service from Budapest Airport. The 1,977-kilometre sector from the Spanish carrier’s hub at Madrid Airport will be operated six times a week, using the airline’s fleet of A320s, until 22 October.

Providing Hungarian passengers with additional connections from the Spanish capital city airport, Iberia will most notably boost Budapest Airport’s link to Latin America. Celia Munoz, Iberia’s Head of Sales for Europe and Africa, states: “We’re delighted to complete our network in Central Europe with the Budapest-Madrid route. The Hungarian capital is a very popular destination among Spanish tourists.”

Kam Jandu, Chief Commercial Officer, Budapest Airport adds: “I am so pleased that Spain’s national carrier has returned to the vital Madrid trunk route. We’re all really looking forward to working with Iberia this summer, a year that is already promising extensive further growth for us.
