LATINA – The Latium Experience DMO, a mixed public-private association for promoting and commercializing the tourist flows of 12 Municipalities of Latium, the Italian region headed by Rome, has a new President: Matilde Eleonora Celentano, elected Mayor of Latina three months ago and formally appointed on May 17th. She follows the previous Commissioner, who led the Municipality to the elections. The Statute of the DMO gives the role of President to the Mayor of Latina, which is the project’s lead city.
A physiatrist by profession, Matilde Celentano made her debut with an institutional role in 2016, when she was elected city councilor in Latina. In 2021 she became the group leader of Fratelli d’Italia, the right-wing party currently leading the Italian government. She was elected mayor in the first round of this year’s local elections with 70.68% of the vote, supported by a centre-right coalition. She is the first woman to hold this position. The appointment as President of Latium Experience was ratified on Thursday, July 13, by the Board of the DMO. In the same session, the entry of the new mayor of Pomezia Veronica Felici was also formalized – again as per Statute, she took over the role of Board member from the former Commissioner of Pomezia.

“We all warmly welcome the new President, who has already had words of high appreciation for the work done up to now, expressing, as Mayor, her favour in evaluating the continuation of the project, unanimously with the other councilors. This is an extremely fervent moment for Latina and its province, also thanks to a new Bill proposal on the centenary of the city, which will fall in 2032. As President Celentano says, it is a unique opportunity to internationally launch Latina with a cultural and stable project. The institutions will receive passionate and professional support from the DMO, according to an approach that has shown great effectiveness in almost a year and a half of synergies”.
Latium Experience is a public-private association aiming to promote, market and manage the tourist flows – involving all the actors operating in the area – of 12 Municipalities of Latium (the Italian region headed by Rome): Aprilia, Colleferro, Guidonia, Latina, Maenza, Pomezia, Pontinia, Priverno, Prossedi, Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo, Ventotene. The association also brings together 40 private operators. The offer is divided into three macro-categories: bike tourism, comprising the routes that run along the canals and connect all the towns, foundation cities, including eight Municipalities, and tastings, enhancing the typical products of the area.
