Nine Botswana properties make the 2011 Conde Nast Traveler Gold List

Re-affirming its status as Africa’s premier safari destination, Botswana is home to nine properties showcased among the 2011 Conde Nast Traveler Gold List. This is the 17th year Conde Nast Traveler has issued its Gold List, which is comprised of over 25,000 Conde Nast Traveler readers’ top picks of the world’s best hotels, resorts, cruise lines and more.

The following Botswana properties are listed on the 2011 Conde Nast Traveler Gold List under the Africa+ Middle East category with their respective overall score – the list described by Conde Nast as “the best places to stay in the world, selected by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler.”

  • Mombo and Little Mombo, Wilderness-Safaris, 98.4
  • Jao Camp, Wilderness-Safaris, 94.3
  • Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge, &Beyond Africa, 93.6
  • Duma Tau Camp, Wilderness Safaris, 93.3
  • Khwai River Lodge, Orient Express Safaris, 91.4
  • Savute Elephant Camp, Orient Express Safaris, 91.2
  • Camp Okavango, Desert & Delta Safaris, 91
  • Sanctuary Chief’s Camp, Sanctuary Retreats, 90.5
  • Vumbura Plains, Wilderness-Safaris, 90.3

These properties also showed up on the Gold List in other categories such as, best location, best food, best design, best service and best activities. Mombo and Little Mombo, Jao Camp, Duma Tau Camp and Vumbura Plains received scores of 100 in the best location category. Mombo and Little Mombo received a score of 96.3 in the best food category. Vumbura Plains received a score of 100 in the best design category. For best service Duma Tau Camp received a score of 100 and Mombo and little Mombo received 98.1. In the best activities category Mombo and Little Mombo received a score of 100, Jao Camp and Duma Tau Camp received 97.1, Camp Okavango received 96.4 and Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge received 96.2.
