airberlin and the Iberia Group expand codeshare agreement

With the expanded partnership agreement, Iberia passengers will have access to airberlin's non-stop flights from Alicante and Malaga to different cities in Germany as well as Vienna and Zurich.

airberlin and the Iberia Group expand their existing codeshare agreement. All Iberia Group flights from Hamburg, Hanover and Stuttgart to Madrid will be offered under an airberlin flight number. As a result, Germany’s second largest airline is offering its passengers an even greater choice of connections to the Spanish capital. airberlin already operates non-stop flights from Berlin, Dusseldorf and Vienna to Madrid, which are offered in codeshare with Iberia.

With the expanded partnership agreement, Iberia passengers will have access to airberlin’s non-stop flights from Alicante and Malaga to different cities in Germany as well as Vienna and Zurich. From now on Iberia also will place its flight number on NIKI flights from Valencia to Vienna.

Stephan Nagel, Senior Vice President Alliances & Cooperation at airberlin says: “The expansion of the codeshare agreement with our oneworld partner Iberia is an important milestone in our partnership strengthening our market position to Spain. In cooperation with Iberia we are now able to offer our customers more than 450 direct weekly flights between 11 cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and 5 destinations on the Spanish Mainland.”

Neil Chernoff, director of Network Development and Alliances in Iberia, says: “Germany is one of the most important markets for Iberia in Europe and the extension of our code-share agreement with airberlin strengthens our position there, as well as in other countries such as Austria and Switzerland. This is part of our commitment to develop a wider network for our customers.”
