IT&CM China targets to become the best MICE show in the world

REPORT – Shanghai – IT&CM CHINA 2012: The 6th IT&CM China opened its doors yesterday at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC) in China. IT&CM China is a focused MICE business platform, established in 2007. It is dedicated to nurturing business opportunities between China and the world, as well as fostering domestic MICE growth within China.

Mr Daren Ng, Managing Director of TTG Asia Media, the organising company of IT&CM China presented the profile of this year’s event at a press conference.

The theme of IT&CM China 2012, “Advancing MICE and Business Minds” perfectly embodies our goal to contribute to advancing the MICE industry in China and around the world through our events and collaborations. True to this goal, IT&CM China 2012 is proud to be part of Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration (SMTA)’s Shanghai Business Events Week (SBEW).

According to Mr Daren Ng, this year hit a new record with of 1,302 registered delegates from 45 countries and territories, including 850 exhibitors representing 317 organisations across the world, 380 buyers (50% of them are from China), and 72 international and Chinese media. In addition, 800 trade visitors are expected to attend the exhibition and the IT&CM China Seminar sessions.

“In total, more than 12,000 business appointments are expected to be conducted onsite and some more at the various activities throughout the Shanghai Business Events Week. These achievements consolidate IT&CM China’s position as a truly international event”, said Mr Ng.

It is very important to mention that 50% of the buyers this year are first time participants, and many of them are coming from seven new territories like China, Taiwan, Prague, Budapest, Macau SAR, Seoul and Geneva.

The event coverage also spreads wider, with media from new countries and territories such as Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Slovenia, South Africa, Switzerland and United States of America.

IT&CM China is co-organised by MP International and this year, for the first time, CITS International M.I.C.E – a wholly-owned subsidiary of CITS (China International Travel Service)is added as co-organising partner to the event. Mr. Tong Wei, President of CITS, stressed that their target is to double the size of IT&CM China in the next two to three years and make it one of the best MICE shows in the world together with IMEX and EIBTM.
