Organizers join force to stage Health & Medical Tourism Pavilion

Medical tourism is expected to generate in Asia a total income of US$4.4 billion by 2012! To help tapping into this fast growing market, TKS, organizer of ITE & ITE MICE, is pleased to announce the launching of a Health & Medical Tourism Pavilion (The Pavilion) in our Travel Expo starting from 2009. To better ensure an early success, resources from various parties will be pooled and the Medical Tourism Pavilion will be jointly organized with China Promotion Ltd (CP), which however is not involved in other parts of ITE & ITE MICE.

Between 2006 and 2008, CP organized jointly with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) the Hong Kong International Medical and Health Care Fair (HM Fair), the first ever medical fair in the city. The HM Fair this year drew 120 exhibitors and 6530 trade buyers. From 2009, the cooperation between CP and HKTDC will be stopped, with HKTDC launching a new medical fair on supplies and equipment, and CP merging services part of the HM Fair into the Health & Medical Tourism Pavilion of ITE & ITE MICE. Various resources of the MH Fair will be made available to the Pavilion.

The Pavilion in ITE will focus on relevant service providers from Hong Kong and abroad, and be promoted as a highlight alongside with other parts of ITE & ITE MICE to the travel trade in the region and the public. In addition, there will be another promotion campaign for trade visitors based on previous contacts and channels from the MH Fair. Seminars for trade and public will also be held.

“The Pavilion will add another interesting travel theme to our Travel Expo. We welcome the cooperation as it no doubt will bring greater and quicker benefits to all our exhibitors and visitors”, said KS Tong, Managing Director of TKS. Since last year, TKS has a similar cooperation with travel trade associations to stage the Hong Kong Travel Agents Street in the Travel Expo.

“Medical Tourism exhibitors can gain immediate benefits from the well established patronage of trade and public visitors of ITE & ITE MICE, especially the travel trade which can serve as important link between the medical service providers and the end-users”, said Mr. Andrew Kay, Managing Director of CP.

The next ITE will be held from June 11 to 14, 2009 and the next ITE MICE from June 11 to 13 at Halls 1A to 1E in HKCEC. As part of ITE, the Medical Tourism Pavilion will be held form June 11 to 14.
