The Vietnam Administration of Tourism and the Tourism Authority of Thailand recently signed a bilateral tourism agreement to step up efforts in an innovative promotion travel and tourism venture designed to boost this industry in both countries.

The agreement involves the areas of infrastructure, transport, and other such development projects, as well as investment promotion, human resources, joint marketing promotion, etc. Both Thailand and Vietnam are now obligated by agreement to supplement existing activities and projects through various regional forums including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN<.>), the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS<.>) and the Great Wonders of Suwannaphumi Tourism Campaign.

Moreover, the new agreement will see both parties work closely with their respective government agencies to further develop aviation links, overland tourism and cruises along the Mekong River. Tourism officials add that such transport links will expedite the implementation of regional development projects and benefit the wider region as a whole.
