Aviation experts to discuss Brexit plans at Routes Europe 2019 in Hannover, Germany

Brexit has serious implications for the aviation market, affecting air service agreements, aviation safety and security, border management and the environment.

As the uncertainty surrounding Britain’s exit from the EU continues, aviation experts prepare to meet in Germany to debate the issue in front of many of the sector's senior representatives.

Brexit has serious implications for the aviation market, affecting air service agreements, aviation safety and security, border management and the environment. Airlines and airports have suffered from a lack of clarity surrounding future arrangements, with some carriers like Ryanair and Wizz Air forced to pre-empt post-Brexit confusion by setting up UK-based subsidiaries.

Taking place on the first day of Routes Europe 2019, the panel debate session will explore the ongoing disruption. Moderated by John Strickland, Director of JLS Consulting, the debate panel will feature

  • Aboudy Nasser, Chief Commercial Officer, London Stansted Airport
  • Al Titterington, Managing Director, Cornwall Airport Newquay
  • Francois Bourienne, Chief Commercial Officer, AGS (Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton) and Chair, UK Travel Retail Association
  • John Hanlon, Head of International Government and Industry Relations, Norwegian
  • Tim Alderslade, Chief Executive Officer, Airlines UK

Forming part of the Routes Europe conference programme, the panel will ask key questions about how Brexit will affect the industry moving forward, what governments should do to ensure stability in the sector, what the impact be on network planning and on travel demand will be, and whether the UK’s withdrawal weaken the EU’s ability to strike new air transport agreements.

Taking place 8-10 April 2019, the event brings together the region's leading airlines, airports and tourism authorities to discuss their route networks; and the Routes Europe conference programme draws high-level speakers each year.

Over three business days, the Routes Europe 2019 conference programme will bring together aviation experts and senior leaders from across the industry to explore the challenges and opportunities during a series of presentations, CEO keynote interviews and panel debates.
Speakers confirmed to take part in the 2019 programme include:

  • Oliver Lackmann, Managing Director, TUI fly
  • Heiko Reitz, Vice President Network Management and Airport Relations, Eurowings
  • Bence Szabo, Head of Network, easyJet
  • Wolfgang Reuss, SVP Network Management, airBaltic

Renowned for being the region’s largest and most important route development forum, Routes Europe 2019 will welcome delegates from leading carriers. Over 100 airlines confirmed to attend, including Lufthansa, Ryanair, British Airways, easyJet, Air France, Wizz Air and Vueling among others.
