Bondholders and Humberside Airport team up to promote the Humber to potential investors

Tens of thousands of business travellers passing through Humberside Airport are being greeted by powerful messages promoting the Humber to potential investors.

The Bondholders marketing organisation, which promotes the Humber region, has worked in partnership with the airport to install signage at key points within the terminal.

The signage, in the form of eye-catching floor vinyls, has been introduced in front of the check-in desks and in the arrivals areas for domestic and international flights.

The signage promotes key messages including the Humber’s vital importance as an energy provider; that the estuary is the country’s busiest ports complex; and that the region has the UK’s largest port-side development sites, many of them enjoying enterprise zone benefits. Other signs promote Hull as the UK City of Culture 2017 and the scale of food production in the region.

More than 230,000 travellers fly in or out of the airport every year – the vast majority visiting on business and most of those to do business within the region.

This is part of Bondholders’ plans to install high-impact signage at key strategic points across the region. The Bondholders team is now exploring further opportunities to project the Humber’s economic significance and opportunities to potential investors at gateway locations and key development sites.

Bondholders Membership Manager Leahann Mollon said: “It is vitally important that we shout about the Humber’s assets and advantages.

“This partnership with Humberside Airport is just one of the many ways in which we are working to generate awareness and interest in the Humber as a location for investment.

“The airport is a major gateway into and out of the region, especially for the growing numbers of business visitors, and an ideal location to promote the area and its attractiveness to potential investors.”

The Bondholders is a fast-growing, private-sector led group of 200 member companies and other organisations, including Humberside Airport, who act as ambassadors for the Humber to encourage investment and job creation.

Ms Mollon said the partnership with Humberside Airport illustrated the important role Bondholders members can play in marketing the region. She added: “We very much appreciate the support of Humberside Airport for this initiative and for enabling us to place these key messages in such prominent positions.”

Humberside Airport Commercial Director Paul Litten said: “This is the first time we have done something like this and we have been delighted to work with the Bondholders to promote the Humber in such a striking way.

“It’s been a missed opportunity historically but, now, with so much excitement about investments in sectors such as the offshore gas industry and renewables, we think this is a great time for the Humber to shout about itself at the earliest point when people come into the region.

“We’re a key part of the region’s connectivity to elsewhere in the UK, Europe and beyond and we have a great opportunity to promote the region to a wide range of international travellers, which can only be beneficial to businesses across the region.”
