Booking your flight with a VPN

Unlike perusing flights in incognito mode, a VPN might be more effective because it allows users to browse the internet completely anonymous.

The average person does some digging before committing to an airfare. While there are various sites that promise the lowest fares, there’s a trick that even the savviest travelers might not know: VPNs. A VPN allows users to change their IP address to a different country.

To explore whether people can save money by changing their location, thebestvpn.com searched five round-trip flights from 20 different countries. Here’s a preview of what we learned:

  • New York City to London: The cheapest flight was booked through Mexico ($377), while the most expensive flight was through Brazil ($971)
  • Los Angeles to Toronto: The cheapest flight was booked through Canada ($404), while the most expensive flight was through the U.S. ($801)
  • When flying from Seattle to Paris, an IP address from the U.K. offered the highest savings- $109 less compared to the U.S.
