Britons may be planning to pack over 10m. electronic devices for their summer holidays

New research to support the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet shows that despite the holiday ideal of ‘travelling light’, half of Britons (48%) are packing two or more electronic devices, excluding a Smartphone, when they travel.

As Britons flock to the web to book their summer holidays this time of the year, new research from Nokia suggests they may be planning to pack over 10 million electronic devices, the equivalent weight of twenty jumbo jets – leaving little room for holiday essentials!

With the Christmas period well and truly behind us, many people are looking to book their summer holiday in order to have something to look forward to.

New research to support the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet shows that despite the holiday ideal of ‘travelling light’, half of Britons (48%) are packing two or more electronic devices, excluding a Smartphone, when they travel. This growing dependence on numerous electronic devices forces 90% of travelers to check in their bags if they are to pack all the gadgets and clothes they feel they need – not to mention all the chargers and adaptors, leaving little luggage room for other holiday essentials.

This new research of over 4,000 US and UK adults, conducted by Nokia for the Lumia 2520, reveals the overwhelming pressure travelers feel to pack every device they own in order to always stay connected to work – a quarter of people admit to checking their work emails more than twice a day (25%) on holiday and 1 in 10 even go as far as taking their laptops to the beach!

To help reduce device excess Nokia is pleased to announce the arrival of its first tablet, the Nokia Lumia 2520 – a device that does it all, whether work or play! With the Nokia Lumia 2520, available now exclusively at John Lewis, you can enjoy hours of uninterrupted entertainment with super-fast downloads and 4G LTE connectivity. It also comes equipped with a 6.7MP camera so you can create bright, beautiful holiday snaps, even at night. It also comes equipped with a full HD screen combined with incredible brightness meaning it is ideal for reading in direct sunlight, whilst an in-built Microsoft Office functionality means it operates perfectly as a laptop – so you’ll have room to pack that extra outfit in your suitcase.

Nokia also welcomes the arrival of the snap-on Nokia Power Keyboard, specially designed for the Nokia Lumia 2520, which makes it easy to use the tablet as a laptop. Available now at John Lewis it has up to five hours of extra battery life, a touch pad and two full-sized USB ports, getting things done on the move has never been easier.

“Our research clearly indicates that the pressure to bring multiple devices on holiday is a real problem for a lot of people. We’re proud to offer the Nokia Lumia 2520 as a much needed solution to this issue – it’s a tablet device that delivers a truly on the go productivity solution and brings together the functionality of many of the devices that people feel they need to bring with them when they travel” said Thomas Messett, Head of Digital Marketing and Advocacy, Europe, at Nokia.
