Budapest Airport celebrates the launch of two new Wizz Air routes

The two new Wizz Air routes are Budapest to Kiev and Budapest to Geneva, launched from Budapest Airport.

BUDAPEST – Budapest Airport celebrated the launch of two new Wizz Air routes on Friday, December 14th. The first Wizz Air flight to Kiev, the Ukranian capital departed Budapest at 10:30 am local time carrying passengers aboard an Airbus A320 aircraft. Some 40 minutes later, Budapest Airport welcomed the first Wizz Air flight from Geneva, Switzerland touching down in the Hungarian capital at 11:10.am. Representatives from Budapest Airport and Wizz Air celebrated the inauguration of both routes with a cake and ribbon cutting ceremony. The two maiden flights represent the start of year round schedules between Budapest and the two cities.

Budapest to Geneva Schedule
Wizz Air will operate three times weekly and is expected to carry over 45,000 passengers in its first year of operation.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday:
Depart Budapest:  06:55          Arrive Geneva:  08:45

Budapest to Kiev Schedule
Wizz Air will operate four times weekly in December and January, increasing to daily flights from March 2013.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Sunday:  

Depart Budapest: 10:30           Arrive Kiev: 13:15

The two new routes, both utilising our new Airbus A320 aircraft, will be welcomed by many Swiss and Ukrainian travelers alike.”

The Wizz Air Airbus A320 offers an all-economy, 180-seat cabin with the option to buy extra leg room and priority boarding on ticket purchase.

Wizz Air currently operates 20 routes from Budapest Airport.  It is the largest Central and Eastern European low cost carrier and started flights from Budapest in 2004, its first year of operation.

Wizz Air bases seventh aircraft at Budapest
Wizz Air has announced it will base a new Airbus A320 at Budapest Airport from March 2013.  The airline, Hungary’s largest, anticipates a growth in passenger traffic of up to 20% – up to 2.2 million – next year.  This will be the seventh aircraft Wizz Air will base in the Hungarian capital.  The new A320 will start operations on 13 March 2013.

Seven aircrafts, 30 routes, up to 2.2m passengers and tailored business services
Following strong Budapest traffic growth of 30% in 2012, Wizz Air is now announcing further frequency increases on six routes to Dortmund, Eindhoven, Kiev, Larnaca, Malaga and Naples and the airline will reinstate the leisure route to Thessaloniki (Greece).  In total the airline will operate 30 routes and 155 weekly flights from Budapest in the summer period.
Holiday Routes
With immediate effect, Wizz Air now offers two new services for the convenience of passengers departing from Budapest Airport. Security Fast Track enables passengers to bypass airport security queues for a fair price or free of charge for Wizz Premium and Wizz Premium Plus passengers. Wizz Air also offers SkyCourt Business Lounge Access enabling passengers to enjoy free WiFi and complimentary food & beverages while they await their flight departure for a small fee. These new services can be purchased online, via the Wizz Air call centre or at the ticket desk at Budapest Airport.
