Busy days for Cyprus' airports

Although this month is a busy one as the island’s hits peak season, passenger traffic data shows a reduction of 5.9 per cent since the beginning of the year.

LARNACA – Between now and August 25, the Cyprus’ two airports expect to handle a total of 2.500 flights and 400,000 passengers, Hermes Airports said.

Larnaca airport itself is expecting to handle some 1,800 flights bringing in 280,000 passengers and Paphos airport 700 flights with 120,000 passengers.

For outgoing passengers, Greece is again the top destination, particularly Crete, Budapest and Barcelona are also popular this year.

Hermes spokesman Adamos Aspris said the data showed that Cyprus was still going through a difficult period and that the challenges for the industry should remind everyone how important it was to work harder and collectively towards mutual goals for the tourism industry.
