CheapAir.com first online travel agency to book flights to Cuba

New service arrives on the heels of Obama administration’s new regulations aimed to help Americans face fewer obstacles in traveling to Cuba.

CALABASAS, CA – For people in need of getting to Cuba, CheapAir.com is once again pushing the boundaries of digital travel planning. CheapAir.com announced it is has become the first online travel agency to enable U.S. travelers to book flights between the U.S. and Cuba.

Earlier this year, President Obama announced new regulations that ease the U.S.’s longtime travel ban to Cuba, making it easier for Americans to travel to the Caribbean nation. Under the new law, Americans must travel for an approved reason, including professional, educational and government purposes, but they no longer need to obtain a government license.

“Since the rule change, we have seen a surge in search volumes for travel to Cuba” said Jeff Klee, CEO of CheapAir.com. “Arranging flights to Cuba is a little complicated, but it’s the kind of thing we’re good at and our technology platform is flexible enough to make it possible. Our team did a great job building it out in just a few weeks’ time.”

CheapAir is booking flights to Havana, the Cuban capital, from all cities in the United States.
