CLEAR reflects on 2014 success and highlights 2015 growth strategy

CLEAR's biometric secure identity platform now used over two million times with new airports and platform expansions in place.

NEW YORK – CLEAR, the biometric secure identity platform, released its Year in Review for 2014, a year in which the company both achieved considerable growth in membership and launched its second significant vertical. With over two million travelers verified in its security lanes at its 10 major airports nationwide, CLEAR enters 2015 expanding the frictionless service experience both in and out of airports.

“CLEAR’s 2014 success provides further proof that we can significantly enhance security while delighting customers,” said Caryn Seidman-Becker, CLEAR’s Chief Executive Officer. “CLEAR is truly making a difference in how people live, work and travel.  I couldn’t be prouder of our team and I am very excited for everything we have in store for the New Year.”

Airport Growth: CLEAR added Las Vegas, its 10th airport, to an expanding airport network in 2014. CLEAR plans two significant airport launches in Q1 of 2015, including Miami, with several more in line for launch throughout the year.

Concessions: CLEAR members can now order snacks as they speed through the CLEARlane, ready for pickup post-security. With CLEAR’s touch-to-pay technology, CLEAR travelers don’t need to wait at the register to pay, eliminating another line and creating an even better experience for CLEAR members. This experience, now in Orlando and San Francisco, will be scaled to more airports and concessionaires through 2015.

Other Venues: Marking the inaugural launch outside of airports, CLEAR brought its secure identity platform to AT&T Park with a pop-up lane for entry into 10 San Francisco Giants baseball games. CLEAR plans to expand to additional stadiums and other major venues in 2015.

“Our expanded platform was approved this year by the Department of Homeland Security’s SAFETY Act office,” said Ms. Seidman-Becker. “Professional sports teams are very excited to be able to bring a platform to their locations that has been tested as extensively as ours and is a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology. Our platform not only improves stadium security but also enhances the fan experience.”

CLEAR’s biometric platform is scalable for other verticals including universities, buildings and other venues focused on enhancing security and delighting customers.

Talent: The company added over 150 new positions in its markets through 2014 and grew to almost 300 employees, operating in 10 markets nationwide and adding industry-leading talent across its organizational structure.

CLEAR Security Advisory Board (CSAB): CLEAR launched the CLEAR Security Advisory Board, bringing world-class experts in privacy and security to the company. CSAB members include privacy expert Fred Cate, Distinguished Professor and C. Ben Dutton Professor of Law at Indiana University, Gale D. Rossides, former Deputy Administrator and Acting Administrator of TSA, Mark J. Sullivan, former Director of the United States Secret Service, and Kenneth L. Wainstein, the first Assistant Attorney General For National Security and former Homeland Security Advisor to President George W. Bush.

From expanding the airport network and membership value proposition to extending into new verticals, CLEAR continues to develop its core platform and mission in building solutions that deliver frictionless security experiences for its members.
