Dubai demonstrates strong points for association expansion in the emirate

The strategic partnership and the resulting study mission underpin DBE’s mandate to establish Dubai as a premier business event destination across sectors such as healthcare, energy, financial services and aviation.

Dubai, UAE – This week, Dubai Business Events (DBE), Dubai’s official convention bureau, welcomed more than 20 international associations in partnership with Associations Network to experience what makes the city one of the most dynamic destinations in the world. Being the largest network of association executives outside North America, London-based Associations Network brings together employees from professional, scientific, medical and business associations, societies, federations and other membership organisations, and has long been a strategic partner of DBE.

The strategic partnership and the resulting study mission underpin DBE’s mandate to establish Dubai as a premier business event destination across sectors such as healthcare, energy, financial services and aviation. Over the course of four days, the visiting association executives were invited to discover what Dubai has to offer, visiting convention venues, hotel services and facilities, gala dinner venues, and gaining hands-on experience of genuine Emirati culture and traditions.

Steen Jakobsen, Director, Dubai Business Events, said: “In line with Dubai’s long-term strategy to grow as a knowledge hub, we recognise the impact international associations have on the overall socio-economic development of our region. As the emirate continues to foster development and innovation through investments in key sectors, it is a primary goal for us to encourage associations in these sectors to establish a permanent presence in the emirate.

The delegation from Associations Network also attended an interactive seminar under the theme of ‘Going Global: Prospects for Growth’. The seminar was organised by Dubai Association Centre (DAC), which was established in 2014 between DBE, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Dubai World Trade Centre with the aim of offering assistance to international associations wishing to establish a presence in Dubai and develop their activities and membership in the emirate and beyond.

Mr. Damien Hutt, Executive Director, Associations Network, said: “The visit to Dubai enables the members of Associations Network to explore Dubai’s potential as a destination for establishing their associations while building a strong partnership with their Dubai counterparts from professional, scientific, medical and business associations, societies, federations and other membership organisations.
