Egypt goes mobile

Popular holiday destination launches new mobile app, ‘EgyptTravel’.

The Egyptian Tourist Authority (ETA), in collaboration with the Centre for Documentation of Cultural & Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), has launched a new mobile app ‘EgyptTravel’. The new app is designed to allow potential and existing visitors to the country the chance to interact with and discover Egypt from the palm of their hand via their mobile device.

Now available on iPhone, the EgyptTravel app allows users to plan their forthcoming trips to Egypt and discover the country by navigating 412 destinations and attractions. Users can unearth the best that Egypt has to offer with navigation options by region, attraction or destination. The app contains a comprehensive collection of image galleries and maps as well as events calendars to keep travellers up to date with happenings around the country.

Omayma El Husseini, ETA’s Director of UK & Ireland, commented, “We’re embracing the latest technologies such as webcams and mobile apps to show exactly what Egypt has to offer visitors now. This app furthers our efforts to encourage communication and discovery of Egypt amongst the UK population and beyond.”

The EgyptTravel app is currently available on iPhone and iPad with plans to make it available on Android devices in December 2013. The app can be downloaded by visiting the iPhone App Store and searching ‘EgyptTravel’. Available in English, the app requires iOS version 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The app is optimized for iPhone 5.
