Emirates reinforces its contactless journey capabilities for an even more seamless travel experience

Take advantage of Emirates smart technology from on-ground to in-flight for a safe and hassle-free journey.

BANGKOK, THAILAND – As part of Emirates’ commitment to continuous innovation and an unmatched customer experience, the airline is providing passengers with various touchless innovations for a safe and seamless travel experience. To minimize touch amid the pandemic, Emirates has launched a series of contactless technology for passengers, including the IATA Travel Pass App, Biometric Path, Self Check-in Kiosks, Smart Gates, and Digital Menus

In partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Emirates is making it easier for customers to keep track of the latest COVID‑19 related travel regulations and have all their testing or vaccination information on hand during travels using the IATA Travel Pass App. The IATA Travel Pass App also helps manage all documents digitally, as a ‘digital passport’ before travelling to encourage an even more touchless experience at the airport.

Most recently, Emirates has also launched an integrated Biometric Path at Dubai International airport (DXB), available for passengers travelling from and through Dubai. The integrated biometric path will give passengers a seamless travel journey from specific check-in to boarding gates, improving customer flow through the airport with less document checks and less queuing. Utilising the latest biometric technology – a mix of facial and iris recognition, Emirates’ passengers can now check in for their flight, complete immigration formalities, enter the Emirates Lounge, and board their flights, simply by strolling through the airport. The various touchpoints in the Biometric Path allow for a hygienic contactless travel journey, reducing human interaction and putting emphasis on health and safety.

In addition, passengers can also take advantage of the recently introduced Self Check-In and Bag Drop kiosks at DXB for a smoother airport experience. For UAE citizens or residents, the use of Smart Gates is available at immigration, simply through the use of the UAE ID or passport. The Smart Gates are linked with the Emirates Identity Authority, so there’s no registration – and will help passengers to speed through immigration every time they depart from Dubai.

Furthermore, passengers can make use of the Emirates App for an even more seamless journey. By using the app, passengers can search, book flights, and check-in online before dropping their bags and getting the boarding pass at Emirates’ kiosks. Along the journey, the Emirates App also allows passengers to create favourite personal playlists which connects to an on-board Emirates’ award-wining Ice entertainment, as well as enjoy choosing delicious dining through the Digital Menus, which can be connected through the OnAir Wi-Fi network for free.

Emirates remains focused on taking the stress out of travel, and has led the industry in protecting the health of its customers to ensure a feeling of safety and confidence when deciding to fly. Emirates customers travel with the assurance that the latest health and safety measures are in place at every step of the journey.

The airline continues to lead the industry with innovative products and services that address traveler needs during a dynamic time. Recently the airline took its customer care initiatives even further with even more generous and flexible booking policies, an extension of its multi-risk insurance cover, and helping loyal customers retain their miles and tier status.

Customers are encouraged to check they meet the travel requirements of their final destination and the latest government travel restrictions in Thailand.
