Estonian Air starts operations between Vaxjo and Amsterdam with eight flights a week

The route is served with 76-seater Embraer 170, featuring both Business and Economy Class cabins.

Estonian Air has now launched a new route between Vaxjo and Amsterdam. Estonian Air serves the route daily with the exception of Saturdays but offers eight flights a week.

The route is served with 76-seater Embraer 170, featuring both Business and Economy Class cabins.

Starting operations on the new route gives Estonian Air a very good possibility to utilise one of its two surplus aircraft capacity. “We believe that our new service will certainly benefit both the leisure and business travellers between the two countries,” said Jan Palmer, the CEO of Estonian Air.

In order to promote the new link and to stimulate the demand, Estonian Air is cooperating closely with Vaxjo Smaland Airport, VisitSweden and Destination Smaland. VisitSweden is a communications company that works to promote the brand of Sweden and the Swedish destinations and experiences internationally. AB Destination Smaland activities are aimed to promote the tourism industry in the Smaland county.

“VisitSweden is very happy with the new route. It makes Sweden even more accessible. In 1.5 hour to pure nature! Smaland is a very interesting place to go“, says Pauline van den Brandhof, the PR Manager of VisitSweden Netherlands. “Dutch people will find here all the Swedish icons: all the pureness, nature, animals, lakes, adventure, typical red cottages, mooses; you will find all that in Smaland.“

“The new route will open up new possibilities for the tourism business in Smaland. Netherlands is an important market and we offer pure nature to our Dutch customers to enjoy,” said Lena Stavmo, the CEO of Destination Smaland.

“Vaxjo Smaland Airport is extremely happy that after many years of hard work in trying to secure a route to a major European hub that finally the day has come where accessibility is all of a sudden on our door step as opposed to several hours by car or train away. This route will generate huge time and cost savings for both businesses as well as leisure passengers. The timetable is designed in such a way that a business trip to Europe over the day is now a possibility. We are thrilled to say the least” says Ulf Axelsson, CEO at Vaxjo Smaland Airport.

Estonian Air fleet comprises seven aircraft: four Embraer 170 and three CRJ900 NextGen. Estonain Air is serving its regular flight network with five aircraft to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels, Oslo, Moscow, Munich, St Petersburg, Kiev, Vilnius and Trondheim. At the moment one aircraft is based in Birmingham for charter and other traffic contracts on the European market in cooperation with ACS in London.
