Romanian airline enters into GSA agreement for the German and UK online markets

AVIAREPS wins Blue Air as new client

The Romanian airline Blue Air is now represented by AVIAREPS in Germany and the United Kingdom. With immediate effect, the airline and tourism management specialist will undertake all marketing, sales and ticketing activities for these online markets. With this new cooperation agreement, Blue Air aims to further increase passenger volume from the two countries.

During this year’s summer season, Blue Air will offer ten connections from three German airports to Bucharest: three weekly nonstop connections will be offered from Berlin; two flights via Sibiu and one direct flight will depart weekly from Cologne/Bonn airport. In addition, four connections will be operated from Stuttgart to the Romanian capital – all via Sibiu. Passengers from the United Kingdom can choose from among three weekly flights to Bucharest departing from London Stansted and two weekly flights to Bacau, departing from London Luton. All these flights are operated with modern Boeing B737 aircraft in a one-class configuration with a capacity of 144 to 189 passengers.

Blue Air started its activities in 2004. After almost five years of existence the company has developed to become the clear leader on the Romanian market. At present, the Romanian airline operates flights to over twenty major cities in Europe. The Blue Air Corporate Program offers maximum flexibility to those who travel often. These passengers can save up to 50 per cent if they choose in advance to buy a package of a minimum of 30 tickets. They can also benefit from flat-rate bimonthly payment conditions.

Romania is a very interesting destination for tourists, especially due to its unspoilt natural features. One popular area of the country is the Danube Delta with its network of rivers, seas, islands and floodplain forests – it was officially nominated as landscape of the year in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Likewise, the cities of Romania are popular travel destinations – for instance, in rarely another European city has the townscape been shaped by so many different architectural styles as in Bucharest. Many architects were inspired by French patterns, which brought the Romanian capital the name ‘Paris of the East’ or ‘Little Paris’. In 2007 Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture. The city invites you to stroll into the squares of the historic centre with its Gothic arcades, Renaissance houses and elegant Baroque churches as well as Art Nouveau buildings.

Moreover, a third of all European mineral springs are to be found in Romania. They are oftentimes used for therapeutic purposes and the country features numerous spa hotels and thermal springs. Despite the fact that these resources are highly sought after, prices are favourable compared to other European destinations, as Romania is a relatively young member of the European Union.

“Since our entry onto the German and UK markets we have already established a certain passenger volume. In cooperation with AVIAREPS we now aim to increase this number year by year and become known as the premier airline to Romania,” states Gheorghe Racaru, General Manager at Blue Air. “The prevailing price consciousness among Germans and Britons alike is a positive precondition to making a destination as diverse and favourably priced as Romania known on these markets. I am absolutely sure that our tailor-made operations will pay off very soon for Blue Air,” adds Edgar Lacker, Vice President Passenger Sales at AVIAREPS.
