Ireland’s leading ferry company Stena Line is on the crest of a wave after its Irish Sea routes scooped four major travel awards in less than a month.

The company’s most recent conquest saw them pick up the Best Ferry Operator for the twelfth time in 13 years at the Northern Ireland Travel and Leisure News Awards last week.

Hundreds of guests and VIPs from the travel industry saw Stena Line collect its latest accolade at a glittering awards ceremony at the Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle, hosted by television personalities Angela Rippon and Suranne Jones, better known as Karen McDonald in Coronation Street.

The Stena Line trophy cabinet was left bulging at the seams with the addition of the Best Ferry Operator Award at the Group Leisure Industry Awards and the Top Ferry Company Award at the Travel Bulletin Travel Stars Awards. Stena Line was also voted Favourite Ferry Company by the Midconsort Travel Group – one of the United Kingdom’s largest independent groups.

On top of all this, the Stena HSS was recently named one of the World’s Greatest Ships on the Channel Five programme of the same name. There are only three Stena HSS fast craft in the world, two of which operate on the Irish Sea – on the Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead and Belfast to Stranraer routes.

Stena Line’s Paul Grant, Head of Travel Market UK and Ireland, is delighted by the company’s continued success.

“We are once again very proud to pick up this award which is a testimony to the hard work and effort that has helped Stena Line to increase market share and reinforce its position as market leader on the Irish Sea,” said Paul.

“To win the Best Ferry Operator award for the twelfth time is even more remarkable when you consider how competitive the industry is at the moment and proves that we must be doing something right.

“Stena Line is committed to providing customers with the best craft and the best service and this year we have once again invested in all aspects of our business to ensure that we continue to offer a first class service to all our customers. In particular, the acquisitions of the Larne-Fleetwood route and the Stena Express on the Rosslare to Fishguard route have both been very successful,”
he added.

“I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the hard work of the whole Stena Line team who have made this year such a success for the company and to thank the travel trade for all their support,” he concluded.
