Holiday World fair -Prague aims to 2005 edition

Holiday World is a significant and well-known Central European Fair held in Prague

Holiday World is a significant and well-known Central European Fair held in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic.

After 13 years of its existence the Holiday World ranks among key travel industry fairs in Central Europe. There were 638 direct exhibitors and number of co-exhibiting companies at Holiday World 2004. Next edition of the Holiday World in Prague is held on February 17-20, 2005, to Prague Exhibition Grounds.

Altogether 39 foreign national tourist boards (NTOs) and exhibitors from totally 50 countries participated at Holiday World in February 2004. The foreign exhibitors occupied 35 % of 15.000 m2 spaces of Prague Exhibition Grounds. Majority of them were coming, of course, from the neighbouring Central-European countries (Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Hungary etc.) and Mediterranean countries (especially Croatia, Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Tunisia, Turkey). However, there also appeared destinations like Mauritius, Venezuela, Indonesia, and others. The rest of exhibiting spaces was fulfilled by extensive offer of Czech regions, spas, hotels, travel agencies and other segments of domestic travel industry.

The fair schedule is based on two days for trade and two weekdays for general public. Trade days attracted over 7.000 professional visitors, on public days the event was visited by almost 24.000 persons. Approximately 650 journalists from trade and public media accredited themselves for the Holiday World 2004.

An independent survey has shown that overall impression of the fair was ‘very good’ or ‘rather good‘ for 94 % exhibitors (at 4-step scale). When asked about their next participation, 40 % exhibitors responded ‘absolutely yes’, 54 % of them answered ‘most likely yes’ (4-step scale). Hence the Holiday World keeps its high importance among travel industry events in the region continuously.

Holiday World has always immediately reflected the industry news, trends and ambitions of “New Europe“. As the first travel fair from Central-Eastern Europe it became a member of reputed E.T.T.F.A. (European Tourism Trade Fairs Association) in 1994. The joining of the European Union by the Czech Republic and other countries last May set out new challenges and the fair is facing them on high professional level.

The next (14th) edition of Holiday World in Prague is held on February 17-20, 2005, to Prague Exhibition Grounds. Traditional as well as new exhibitors will attract the attention of audience by enormous scale of tourism services and products. Ukraine is chosen as a partner country of the fair’s 2005 edition. There is prepared a new fair sector of suppliers of free-time activities called Holiday Equipment as well as an individual hall for exhibition of India.

Professional accompanying programme has expanded and reached high reputation during last editions of the Holiday World. It is organized in cooperation with national tourist organisation CzechTourism, key Czech travel industry media (COT Business, TTG Czech Republic) and other bodies in a Conference Centre specially built for the fair. Social programme of the fair is topped by Evening Ceremony, held annually at the most famous halls of Prague Castle. Centre line of the public programme is made by film and slide shows WORLDfilm, prepared in part with National Geographic Magazine, and several exhibitions of travellers’ photographs.
