British Airways now offers interline e-ticketing (IET) with all other members of the oneworld™ alliance, following its cut over with Cathay Pacific.
It means the UK carrier and US partner American Airlines are the only two airlines in the world to offer this customer convenience with all their global alliance partners.
With LAN and Qantas also linking up in September, IET is now in place between 16 of the potential 28 pairings of oneworld carriers, covering more than 90 per cent of all passengers transferring between the alliance`s member airlines. The remaining 12 pairs are on track to link-up by the new year, making oneworld the first to offer IET between all its partners.

Interline e-ticketing offers customers many advantages. It means they can be ticketed right through to their final destinations on journeys involving a transfer between carriers with no need for a paper ticket, making connections between carriers smoother, easier and more reliable. They can also rebook between airlines without having to obtain a paper ticket first, saving time and hassle. The customer benefits of e-tickets themselves are also numerous – they cannot be lost or stolen, they make check-in quicker and smoother, helping eliminate queues at airports by giving customers access to the speed and convenience of new automation features.
e-tickets and interline e-ticketing also provide millions of dollars a year in savings for the airlines, by eliminating costly paper tickets and the processes to support their use.
