BAA Scotland, the owner and operator of Scotland`s three busiest airports at Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow…
BAA Scotland, the owner and operator of Scotland`s three busiest airports at Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, welcomed on Monday 10th of January 2005 the announcement by Continental Airlines that it is to significantly increase capacity between Scotland and North America.
Donal Dowds, Managing Director of BAA Scotland, said: This announcement is good news, not only for Scottish travellers, who last year visited the United States in record numbers, but for Scotland`s tourist industry.
The US is a key market for business and leisure travel from Scotland, particularly New York, so we`re delighted that Continental is increasing frequency and capacity from Scotland`s two main airports.
This announcement also represents a welcome boost for Scottish tourism, and we`ll be working closely with Continental and the Scottish tourism industry to market this improved service to US travellers. The Scots have a great affinity with America and that`s reflected across the Atlantic, where demand for flights to Scotland has never been higher.
He added: In less than a year, Scotland has gone from having one daily flight to New York to three. That can only be good news for Scottish business and tourism.
