The first-ever British Airways morning departure to London Heathrow from Newark Liberty International Airport begins today as British Airways launches its third daily non-stop flight across the Atlantic to the British capital.
There has been additional demand for morning capacity to London from the greater New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area, and the early departure from Newark will provide greater convenience for our customers living in Northern New Jersey and Manhattan who find Newark Liberty a tremendous convenience, said David Noyes, Executive Vice President North America for British Airways. With an 8 a.m. departure, traffic access to Newark Liberty from New Jersey or Manhattan should be a breeze, and the 8:05 p.m. arrival at Heathrow will permit easy access into central London.
The morning flight will be operated by a Boeing 777 configured in four classes: First class with 14 luxurious seats that convert to six and one-half foot flat beds; 48 Club world flat bed seats that are six feet long; 40 World Traveller Plus seats, each with 38 inch pitch; and 122 World Traveller economy seats.
Eastbound, the flight departs Newark Liberty at 8 a.m. arriving the same evening at Heathrow Airport at 8:05 p.m. The new late afternoon westbound flight, BA187, departs Heathrow at 5:50 p.m. and arrives back at Newark the same afternoon at 8:35 p.m.
The late afternoon departure from Heathrow extends the business person`s day in London and allows a convenient return time at Newark, providing a full night`s rest, Noyes continued.
The morning service to Heathrow complements British Airways` two evening departures at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
