EU don’t rush to abolish visas for the Russians

It’s seems that the visa free regime between Russia and EU will come into force not so soon. Procrastination of signing of the agreement became indecent. Such statement was made by Sergey Lavrov, the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. According to Mr. Lavrov, Russian party hopes to receive the response from Brussels very soon.

“Visa free regime between Russia and EU is just a matter of time”, said Alexander Radkov, Deputy Head of Federal Agency for Tourism. “To come to an agreement and put the law in force are absolutely different things”, said Taras Kobishchanov, the Head of ATOR International Cooperation Committee. In fact, the negotiations between Russia and EU have lasted more than a year; however, there are no any decisions except big words. “The reason of procrastination is only a political one. There are no any economical impediments for visa free regime”, noted Alexander Radkov. “The reason is that the heads of EU countries can’t come to a general conclusion concerning this question. Probably, it’s a rudiment of “cold war”, unwillingness of some countries to consider Russia as an integral part of Europe”.

However, the EU officials have specific worries, in particular, concerning the increase of flow of illegal migrants. “Such worries are groundless. Just look at the example of visa abolition agreement between Russia and Israel, there are no any increase in number of illegal migrants”, noted Taras Kobishchanov. According to Mr. Kobishchanov, visa abolition agreement will promise Europe a considerable economical profit. “The tourist flow to Europe will definitely increase. And the matter is not only about independent travellers, but about bookings with the help of agents as well”, added Taras Kobishchanov.
