IMEX and leading German market research & marketing/pr agency, Travel Marketing Factory (TMF), announced they will continue their joint tracking study of the outbound German MICE travel market. Both companies are committed to building this into a market-leading report, and one that conference and meeting planners around the world find indispensable in their business planning.

At present, the annual MICE market research project provides detailed glimpses into trends amongst German meetings and conference planners. As the German outbound conference and incentive travel market remains the biggest and most influential in Europe, this data is extremely valuable to convention bureaus, tourist boards, and other destination management companies across the world.

When the full results of the last study were published at IMEX in April, both IMEX and TMF were extremely pleased with reaction to and demand for the data.

Following further assessment and feedback from users, TMF will expand the scope of the study for 2006 to include the outbound MICE market of German-speaking Austria and Switzerland. The volume of face to face corporate interviews will also be expanded to increase the validity of the analysis.

A minimum of 150 interviews with individually selected participants are scheduled for the 2006 study, with 50 further interviews for the new Austrian/Swiss market sector.

A limited number of convention bureaus and tourist boards will also be given the chance to participate in the study with individual questions about their respective destinations.

Says Johanna Fischer, co-owner and managing director of Travel Marketing Factory GmbH: “our team is very excited about how the study develops; it both proofs and further develops our own know-how in the market as well as giving a sound and neutral background for investments in marketing and pr in this important segment. It is the first time that ongoing market intelligence is available to tourist boards and convention bureaus backing up their marketing & pr policy in the Germanspeaking outbound markets and providing annual comparisons in the development of the market”

The TMF report is one of three ongoing market research surveys now being led or supported by IMEX.

Says Carina Bloom, IMEX Marketing and Operations Director, “It has always been our intention to develop and build additional, high value services for our exhibitors all year round. We believe well-planned market research is an important part of that mix and, three years down the line, we now have an extensive database of information which attracts consistent interest. Exhibitors are now using this information to shape business changes and inform strategic planning.”
