Israel`s Tourism Minister Avraham Hirchson unveiled his ministry`s 2006 plan to stimulate charter to the country at World Travel Market 2005. In light of the success of the 2005 stimulus package, the minister said that he would like to bring 150,000 tourists to Eilat via charter flights in over the 2006/7 winter season.
Under the program, the Ministry of Tourism will support winter charter flights to Eilat and Tel Aviv and flights scheduled over a longer term.
Director General Eli Cohen says the ministry`s 2005 charter stimulus program proved that there is renewed confidence in Israeli tourism and in Eilat in particular.
