Laskarina launches 2005 brochure

Laskarina Holidays, winner of the Observer and Guardian best tour operator travel award for eight consecutive years from 1995-2003, has unveiled its new brochure for 2005, predicting Greece can have an even bigger year in 2005.

The tour operator believes that the success of the Athens Olympics and Greece`s sponsorship of the World Travel Market this year together with the Arts and media interest in Greece following the release of Alexander the Great, signals another boom year ahead. In order to accommodate the anticipated demand, Laskarina has increased its selection of properties for 2005.

Hotels have been added on the islands of Halki, Lipsi and Alonissos, where the new additions include a restored traditional village house and beautiful hillside apartments.

This year also marks the introduction of the secluded island of Kastellorizo to Laskarina`s list of possibilities. The island will be available to clients for just one week of the season to tie in with the company`s regular painting tour under the guidance of Muriel Owen, vice-president of the Society of Women Artists.

Laskarina Holidays prides itself on its knowledge of its islands and its peoples, which is reflected in the warm welcome given to all of Laskarina`s clients by local people. Hugely respected by the Greek population, Laskarina has a strong commitment to its adored islands.

The company`s responsible tourism programme has introduced beneficial practices and services including a free pet spaying service, a sponsored chamber orchestra on the island of Symi and financial assistance for the environmental Restoration Fund on Samos.

Steve Diederich, Managing Director of Laskarina Holidays comments: The Olympic flame has certainly stoked up demand for Greece`s islands, and we`re anticipating a busy year ahead. Greece`s headline sponsorship of World Travel Market has also helped, especially with the travel trade, fuelling further growth in the market and ensuring that 2004 will certainly be no one-off.

We`ve increased our choice of villas, adding traditional houses and more apartments, and we`re experimenting with the enchanting island of Kastellorizo for one of our many special interest holidays.

One new property, Villa Nikolas in Halki, is perfect for those who want to experience the real unspoilt Greece. It`s a traditional village house standing right on the harbour front – straight out of a postcard!
