As part of its ongoing strategic business review lastminute.com has created a new role of CIO to manage its global technology team. Mike Remedios joins from Star Solutions in the US, a business development and consulting company to the tech industry which he founded in 2002. Mike will report to CEO Brent Hoberman and starts this new role with immediate effect.
Previous to Star Solutions, Mike was responsible for Kmart`s e-commerce and ISP subsidiary, BlueLight.com a site that has in excess of 1.2 million visitors per day. Here Mike`s key accomplishments were the deployment and operation of the e-commerce site and the successful deployment of 3,500 kiosks in Kmart stores across the US. Under Mike`s leadership BlueLight.com`s profitable ISP service was the fastest growing ISP in the US with over 7 million customers. In addition to having a broad range of technical experience, Mike also has experience with supply-chain re-engineering, acquisition/integration and outsourcing.
His earlier experience includes, Executive VP and CIO for i-Vendor, which delivered merchandising, Internet and kiosk e-commerce solutions to Fortune 500 Clients. Previous to that he was Senior VP and CIO for Resource/Phoenix Inc, which provided full-service financial services to Fortune 500 companies.
