SkyWork Airlines increases London City – Bern to 11 flights weekly

SkyWork Airlines has increased its presence in the UK with the launch of twice daily Monday to Friday services on its London City-Bern route. Now business passengers can make a day return and enjoy a full eight hours in Switzerland. Yesterday, just five months after its debut at London City, the independently-owned regional carrier upped frequency from six to 11 flights weekly. The new schedule also features a new Saturday morning flight and Sunday evening roundtrips, operated by Dornier 328 or Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft with 31 and 72-seats, respectively.

SkyWork Airlines CEO Tomislav Lang said: “We have been delighted with the early success of our direct flights from London City Airport to the Swiss capital. We recognised at the outset that this important route requires a minimum of two flights a day to meet the needs of both business and leisure markets and are confident the extra six weekly flights will further strengthen the route and attract more passengers. SkyWork offers the fastest route to the City of Bern and the Bernese Oberland.”

SkyWork also introduced brand new services to Rome and Vienna on Monday, September 5th. The inaugural flight took off from Bern on schedule at 10.10 am bound for Rome with the first flight to Vienna following just over five hours later.

The Bern to Rome service operates Monday to Friday with departures from Bern leaving at 10:10 am and arriving in Rome at 11:45 am.  Return flights from Rome will depart at 12:25 pm arriving back in Bern at 14:05.

The schedule between Bern and Vienna operates daily with the exception of Sundays with flights departing Bern at 15:40 and arriving in Vienna at 17:15.  Return flights will depart from Vienna at 17:55 and arrive back in Bern at 19:30.

With these new additions, SkyWork now links the Swiss capital to a total of ten destinations. A further four – including Amsterdam, Belgrade, Budapest and Madrid – come on line at the end of October.

Bern Airport is the most convenient airport to arrive and depart from for destinations in the greater Bern area, Bernese Oberland Region or the canton of Wallis. With a minimum check-in of just 30 minutes you are just a few metres from boarding.

Arrivals are just as speedy, with a fast baggage reclaim system. Transfer bus services to the city depart hourly. In just over 20 minutes you are at Bern’s main railway station where you can connect onto trains destined for the whole of Switzerland. There is also the opportunity to purchase a flexible Swiss Pass upon arrival at the Skywork ticket counter. This pass is valid for all train and bus travel throughout Switzerland.
