Travel PR gets some added Umpf as new agency launches

The former board director of Leeds and London agency Lucre has launched his new PR company. Umpf, headed up by Adrian Johnson, will have a travel focus and is one of a new breed of creative PR agencies working across digital, social media, as well as traditional channels.

Having run national PR campaigns for the likes of Jet2.com, Leger Holidays, i-to-i, La Manga Club, Cruise.co.uk, Best Western, QHotels and Yorkshire Tourist Board, Johnson is targeting travel and tourism clients across the UK.

Owner Adrian Johnson said: “We’re looking to give the travel industry some additional publicity Umpf by applying clever, creative, strategic and measured PR campaigns to new channels. The concept behind Umpf is to take PR beyond what agencies typically provide and help our clients engage and interact with bigger audiences.

“In the last 18 months, PR has evolved and expanded at a faster pace than at probably any other time in its history and the convergence with the digital industries presents agencies such as ours with more exciting and more diverse opportunities to promote clients.

“Our aim is to make Umpf one of the leading travel PR agencies in the North.”

Adrian Johnson has over 14 years’ PR experience and in the last four years his campaigns have won five CIPR Gold awards for clients including Jet2.com and Yorkshire Tourist Board (now Welcome to Yorkshire).
