British holidaymakers have already notched up a high number of bookings for Greece in 2000, major UK tour operator Thomson<.> reports. The company`s representative for Greece, Nicola Salter, said Corfu is proving especially popular. In this year`s brochure, Thomson has placed the Ionian island`s Agios Gordios resort and Yaliscari Palace in its gold category, recommending them for couples in particular.

Meanwhile, Zakynthos is being promoted as the ideal destination for families as part of the Thomson Super Family programme, which includes the island`s Exotica hotel.

The brochure also covers Halkidiki, Thasos, Kos, Kalymnos, Leros, Samos, Rhodes, Crete, Kefalonia and Skopelos.

Additionally, for summer 2000 Thomson has published a brochure entitled Small & friendly which includes, for the first time, specific, detailed packages for Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.
