US and European Union agreed on sharing passenger data

Representatives from the European Union and the United States reached an agreement regarding the new rules on the sharing of personal data for the passengers of commercial flights to United States. As a European official commented, “Yes, we have a deal.”



The Finland presidency of the European Union had talks with Washington targeting the fulfillment of the law gap on the sharing of personal data such as addresses and credit card data.



At the time being no more information is available for the content of the agreement. The agreement has to be approved officially by the Ministers of Justice and Internal Affairs of the European Union.
