It's all about the brain at AIBTM

Dedicated Education Stream will examine the Relationship between Meeting Productivity and Food

This year’s AIBTM, The Americas Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition, scheduled for June 11-13, in Chicago, has ‘food on the brain’ with a series of education sessions dedicated towards helping meetings industry professionals understand the importance of brain health and the role it plays in the productivity of meetings.

Rebecca Katz, MS, a nationally-recognized culinary translator and expert on the role of food in supporting optimal health, author, educator and Executive Chef and faculty at The Center for Mind-Body Medicine’s Food As Medicine Training Program, will kick of the education stream at AIBTM Education day on Tuesday June 11, with her session, which will take place in the Brain Power Lab at 10am.

This session will inform and educate attendees on the role of food and nutrition and the ways in which it can affect behavior and energy throughout the day. It will also teach attendees how to create menu plans which address the specific profiles of meeting attendees while exploring which food choices can be balanced to support meeting themes.

Katz comments, “Part of the motivation towards maintaining brain heath, is to realize the important role which colorful nutrient dense food plays in helping the body and the brain thrive. This is particularly important during conferences, where food becomes the premium fuel to keep participants fully engaged.”

The second session in the Brain Food series, will be delivered by Dianne Devitt, President, the DND Group and advocate for creativity and wellness in events and meetings  and Cynthia Ackrill, M.D., Human Performance Consultant, Coach, and Speaker President of WellSpark.  This interactive session will guide attendees through the steps and elements of strategic meeting and event design from the brain’s perspective and how an effectively styled meeting and event experience can enhance brain power.

It will also explore the ways in which emotional connections can increase results and how details and small choices can effect the reactions of meeting attendees.
